FIRST OF ALL, SOME GENERAL HINTS HOW TO INSTALL : You must install in this order : "The Sims", then "The Sims, Livin' large", "The Sims, House party", "The Sims, Hot Date", "The Sims, Vacation", "The Sims, Unleashed" and "The Sims, Superstar". You don't have to install everything, but the order matters. If your game "The Sims" is not in English but you've got the additions in English, it's very easy to change the language. You just need to change the name of the main folder to "The Sims", then, you must rename the latest addition pack in Eglish (for instance, "the Sims, Livin' large"). Now you can install other additions. Launch lthe game while pushing the "l" key (as "language") until a window appears, giving you the choice of different languages. Select yours ! Your Sims will then speak your laguage. Further additions will be automaticaly in your language. HOW TO STOP THE SIMS being SO STUPIDLY PRUDE : To prevent your Sims from being censored when they take a shower, a bath or when they use the toilets, you have to put the files adult-censor.cmx and child.cmx into the "Skins" folder inside the "Game Data" folder. |

THE SKINS : Beware that most of the skins you'll find on the web can't work on Macintosh unless you modify them first. A small software does that for you. Its name is Skin Shrinker and you can download it on many Sims sites. You may also visualise your skins before you install them into the game with another software called "Sims Show". The skins must be install into the "skins" folder inside the "Game data" folder. They're constituted by a .skn file, a .cmx file (meshe) and a (or several) .bmp file (texture). Be sure you have all three files before you install them. WALLS AND FLOORS : Walls and floors dowloaded on the web work on Macintosh. You must put .wll (walls) files into the "Walls" folder inside the "Game Data" folder and the .flr (floors) files into the "Floors" folder inside the "Gama Data" folder. You can also rename them (keeping the .wll or the .flr) so that you can find them more easily and throw them if you're fed up with them. OBJETS (FURNITURE... ETC) : The objects you find on the web (furniture, doors... etc) work perfectly on Macinstosh, but you must not install objects designed for an addition you have not yet installed. Usualy, the addition name is given just before the objects you want to download on most Sims sites. For instance: HD means that the object will only work if you have installed "The Sims, Hot date", LL means you need "The Sims, Livin' Large"... etc. You only have to know the american names for the additions. All the objects must be installed into the "objects" folder inside the "Gama Data" folder. Their names generaly ends with .far or.iff. Rename them keeping these endings so you'll be able to throw them away when you're fed up with them. If you want your objects to appear downtown when you have "The Sims, Hot date" installed, you must first transform them with the software called iff.taxi. You will find it on most of the Sims sites. The software called .iff snooper allows you to visualise the objects without having to install them first into your game. You can also find it on the web. |
